Hair Relaxers
A recent study in the journal Cancer Epidemiology,
Biomarkers & Prevention stated hair relaxers do
not cause breast cancer in black women.
Now, these relaxers contain lye and calcium
hydroxide. Additionally, manufacturers don't
have to list all of their ingredients because
it is a trade secret.
Is this suppose to be satisfying? Sisters are
putting chemicals on their scalps that's
penetrating through their pores; and the
hair stylist has to wear protective gloves;
and the concoction burns your scalp if kept
on too long...well, if ain't causing cancer
it's creating some type of disorder.
Let's start with damaging the brain cells.
And the trade secret ingredients -- what
are they doing?
One thing for sure, hair relaxers are incarcerating
our minds and our pride.
