Dominican Hair Salons -- "the best damn blow out!"

Any Sister familiar with Dominican Hair Salons knows
you leave the salon with your hair bone straight;
able to blow in the wind -- for real.
Dominican stylists give -- hands down -- "the best damn blow out!"
Dominicans are a mixture of African, Spanish, Native American.
The Carribean Sister is familiar with a variety of hair textures.
...and they will whip out that crack cream (relaxer) in a heartbeat.
In the early 1970s from Hispaniola: A Case History in Multicultural Madness
-- Dominican sociologist Daysi Josefina Guzman identified 15 kinds of hair
textures. Her scale went from bueno (good) for soft Caucasian hair to
malo (bad) for kinky, Negroid hair.
Here's a peek at her crazy hair spectrum:
1. Lacio - straight & smooth
2. Achinado - stiff hair
3. Espeso - thick, abundant & slightly wavy
4. Macho - thick & strong, abundant but without luster
5. Rizado - thick and fine with small waves but dull
6. Muerto - thin and greasy
7. Ondulado - wavy
8. Vivo - thick, dry & out of control
9. Variable - indescribable
10. Crespo - thick & frizzy
11. de Pimienta - peppery, growing slow & tight to the skull in small balls
12. Motica - like peppery hair but thin, wavy
13. Pegaito - so close to the skull that it is impossible to comb
The Black Hair Inferiority Mindset has claws that intersects all
corners of the planet...
On her birthday , I thought I would remind you of my fim and your past article..perhaps with Chris rock's new film...someone will fix this

Haven’t tried it yet, hope to be there and look what the article was trying to say about. The best thing about this article is the combination of an African, Spanish, and a Native American. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

I would like also to share the Dominican Hair Styling. Dominican salons tend to follow pretty much the same procedure no matter whose hair they are working on. So, generally when you walk in you will see everyone going through the same styling process.
The following are the steps typically followed for Dominican Hair Styling that is frequenty called "The Doobie":
* Shampooing and Deep Conditioning under a hooded dryer for 10 - 15 minutes
* Setting hair with large magnetic rollers. They do this amazingly fast!
* Dryiing under a hooded dryer with enough heat to dry the hair in good time. Many of them use Pibbs Dryers.
* Removing rollers and blow drying roots with a VERY hot dryer and a round brush.
The result of this process is extremely bouncy hair with super straight roots! Many people love going to Dominican hair salons simply for the bouncy hair they get as a result. This is the main benefit of these salons.

Most Dominican women have textured hair (el pelo texturado), which needs a lot of attention! And therefore almost every Dominicana goes to the beauty parlor once or twice every week. The beauty parlor is called el salón de belleza or la peluquería. In the Dominican Republic, and wherever Dominicans live, the beauty parlor is a big part of our culture. According to Dominican Times Magazine in 2007 there were 3,250 Dominican beauty salons in the New York metropolitan area! That's a good thing because for our kind of hair, the Dominican hairdressers (estilistas or peluqueras dominicanas) are simply the best. For 500 years, they have been developing techniques of hair care based on washing, drying, and brushing and on the natural tropical products of our country like silk, avocado, coconut, olive, and cinnamon oils; maracuyá [chinola, passion fruit], rosemary, garlic, wheat germ, and aloe (not to mention sole of shoe and snail slime!) for keeping our hair beautiful even in the hottest and most humid conditions.

I said to myself, I have things in my head that are not like what anyone has taught me - shapes and ideas so near to me - so natural to my way of being and thinking that it hasn't occurred to me to put them down. I decided to start anew, to strip away what I had been taught.

It's the opinion of some that crops could be grown on the moon. Which raises the fear that it may not be long before we're paying somebody not to.

Listen. Do not have an opinion while you listen because frankly, your opinion doesn?t hold much water outside of Your Universe. Just listen. Listen until their brain has been twisted like a dripping towel and what they have to say is all over the floor.

I go to salon once a month to repair my damage hair. It is also good to maintain the beauty of our hair. Just don't allow salon attendant to "straighten" your hair because some salon use harmful chemicals that could heavily damage your hair.
