Lace Front Wigs Are Ridiculous

Leave it to mediatakeout.com to blast OK Magazine
for showing a close up -- unintentionally -- of Jennifer Hudson's
glued on Lace Front Wig.
C'mon, these lace front wigs are absurd....gluing a wig
to your hairline.... Black woman have lost their minds.

Why do you, the article writer, have to bring it up as a race thing? Why do you care about someone wanting to change their look? Sounds like issues about something you don't understand.

Excuse me, Hmph!...of course it's a racial issue. Black women need to start
getting in tune with their own naturalness and stop revering another standard of beauty.
I think if you are a Sister, you are in denial...wake up!

No we haven't lost our minds, some of us can afford to buy lace wigs, and sometimes we want a different look without the hassle which is why I think lace wigs are a good thing to have(only if you could afford it)But I think Jennifer Hudson could of done better with her wig choice(curly, kinky, permed, color black)But it looks like she put too much glue...thats why some of us prefer the lace wig with the straps in the back.

Karen I think women no matter what color should have a right to wear what they want once we aren't buying their hair their clothes....we really have no say....sometimes it just has to do with a person wanting to change their look to have higher self esteem...who cares if we like it or not as long as she's happy with it...then its fine."C'mon, these lace front wigs are absurd"too you they maybe but to cancer patients and people who've had hair loss due to chronic illness they are wonderful.Sometimes it could help a person with their confidence when their going through life obstacles because not only do you change mentally but physically.I'm pretty sure all of us have flaws including you.We just aren't in the spotlight for everyone to pick at our flaws. What's one mans trash is another mans treasure....remember that.

I'm sorry you say black women need to get in tune with our own naturalness, how about the rise in none black women going to the extremes of having surgery to change their natural appearance. There is a rise in rediculous cosmetic surgeries like nose jobs, boob implants butt implants, collogen and other things like white women going to extremes to get tans. All these things are unatural and are far worse than a black woman just putting on a simple wig on her head which she can easily take off. I think this wig and weave issue is a jealousy issue simply because non black women can't change their hair style as much as black women, to be honest if the only issue you can come up with is fake hair your as ridiculous and pety as you say the wigs are. And sista before you knock black women look at yourself, are you wearing make-up?, do you put on heels? do you straighten or curl your hair? if the answer to these are yes then your as artificial and unatural as you say us black women are.

Lace wigs are in my opinion GREAT. You can get ANY STYLE without the hassel of doing your own hair. By doing I mean (RELAXING, STAIGHTING, ect you get the picture.) And watch what you say sometime my dear, your opinions can come off strong. My aunt wears lace wigs because she has an illness and her hair to this day will NOT grow from her scalp. She is beautiful bald, but she is MORE happier with her wig. Her confidence shoots through the roof! LOL. Every woman has the right to be beautiful. So just watch what you say okay...

I would imagine that those who have so much to say about wigs, weaves, etc have never awaken to find themselves going bald from medical conditions that are beyond their control and often irreversible. So what's your answer to them? Yes the application technique was not the best, but to assume black (or any women) for that matter have lost their minds for wanting to maintain or improve their appearance on a permanent or temporary basis is absurd!

This blog is not addressing folks with medical conditions.

I came across this as I was researching lace front wigs. There was a time I would have high-fived you and proudly told you how I grew out my perm back in '95. But, at the same time I've struggled with a thin hairline (going back about an inch) since junior high. I was sporting bangs all..the..time. If I wore braids, I gelled my "baby hair" and never pulled them back into a ponytail. Then there were the locks, the fros, the headwraps, all while trying to minimize the look of my hairline. Then I heard of lace front here and there, and received an Ashro catalog in the mail where they were selling them. I've found a few kinky, more natural looking ones that I'd like to invest in. The thing I hope that you'll invest in, as I've begun to do, is an open mind and heart for sisters who may not have a medical condition (I don't consider myself in that category). We want versatility and confidence to let our hair frame our beautiful faces, not hide our flaws.

I hear you about wanting versatility. However, did you ever consider researching how you can get your hairline back. I'm assuming chemicals took out your hairline. Hopefully, the chemical in the relaxer did not permanently stop the hair growth.
Sisters wearing all this fakeness is pitiful, and then wearing fake hair to invigorate our confidence?
What's wrong with this picture?
Fake hair is our modern-day bondage.

Where do I begin...? I followed through on my research and bought a front-lace wig. I sported it for a while, getting all types of compliments, and enjoyed the attention--except when I was with my 2 yo daughter. I didn't want her to think the only way to be pretty and be seen as pretty was with fake hair. One day, she was watching me get ready to go to a holiday brunch for work and as I started to put on my wig, she tapped me and said "Mommy, I want to wear some hair too."
That did it. I took it off, never put it back on and now I'm locking my hair again. I have to be the woman I want my daughter to be, and that's a woman who is confident in herself as herself. Thanks for the nudges, but my daughter definitely gave me the final one to bring me back to reality. (Btw, I'm subscribing to your blog.)

Humm... interesting,
As a white guy i think black women are way better looking that white women, real hair or not,
And white people are rude about weave and stuff when theres just as many white people using "extensions" they just get ripped off by their hairdressers...
Keep up the good work
