Sista, I've haven't laughed this hard in quite sometime. I am a writer focusing on issues impacting the quality of life for black women and the black family. Hair is simply of no importance or consideration for me. I don't know why I stopped at this site, but I'm glad I did. Laughter is very important medicine and I got plenty of it today! Thank you.

I am a black woman who is a former international model. Anything that could be done to your hair (fake) I did it, all over the world. After thousands of dollars and days of painful procedures, at best my hair was mediocre. Many years ago, I got fed up with basically everything in my unfulfilling life. One of the first changes was to embrace my natural hair. I got tired of my life being about hair considering the time dedicated. I'd prefer to use my time addressing social issues. I don't even think or talk about hair, until today.

Not until I started wearing my hair natural did anyone ever compliment my hair (NEVER!!!). Now, every few days men stop me complimenting me on my hair and trying to get with me. Even women frequently compliment me. I have the "worst" grade of hair, tight and irregular kink. I love my nappy hair! It is my favorite asset! It is my mane! My man can play in my hair all he wants. I can wash and "do" my hair in less than an hour. I'm always ready to go. I'm telling you, men prefer natural hair. I had no idea. At first I thought people were being sarcastic, then a would blush, and now I'm like whatever. Can you believe I've gone from terrorizing my hair to "whatever."

If you'd like to read my book "The Black Woman's Guide to Unearthing Mr. Right!" please go to the website listed.

    Much love to my sistas.

Namaste (The good in me honors the good in you!)

Hi, Susan:  I will definitely check out your website....Also know that hair is an important issue.  If sisters would
go natural, they wouldn't have to spend so much time on their hair and it would leave room for more important thinking.

By altering our uniqueness, gets in our way.  "Going natural gives you more brain space to deal with more pressing issues!"

Thank you so much for this post and overall site. A picture is worth a thousand words, and YES, when we sew in fake hair and strut fake eyes, we are glorifying another culture. I don't care who says otherwise.

Just look at any music video or big money movie - every black woman is wearing fake hair. I'm so sick of it. We constantly say, "Your race is prettier than mine" when we try so hard to look like them.

You are full of shit. Tiffany Pollard's hair clearly looks closer to an Indian womans hair than this straight hared red head white woman. Many African American women are actually mixed with Indian - in case your ignorant self didn't know. Therefore, they have the right to style their hair like their ancestors - whether they flat iron, perm it, or add extensions to it.

You were born naked. Are you showing self hate for wearing CLOTHES?

The creator of this website is so full of crap it's amazing.

Black women straightening their hair is the same thing as you clipping your toe nails, and shaving hair off your body. Since you're supposed to leave your body completely natural, you are altering your toe nails when you cut them, as well as your hair when you shave it off. So I guess you cutting your toe nails is self hate also?? You are absurd and very ignorant.

When black women wear hair extensions, its the same thing as you wearing clothes. You were born naked - so it's self hate to add clothes to your body just like it's self hate to add hair to your head ACCORDING to your mindset.

If you even dare say "my nails can grow back, my body hair can grow back, and I can remove my clothes"... just know that these women that straighten their hair also can grow their natural hair texture out, and remove their hair extensions.

PLEASE GO ENLIGHTEN YOURSELF and stop being so bitter and ignorant.
