Who Knew? The Brother who invented the Traffic Light, also invented Hair Relaxer.

Garret Augustus Morgan (1877- 1963)
The website Skin Biology: The Truth About Hair Relaxers, elaborates
on how Garret Morgan, known for his invention of the
traffic light and gas mask, also invented the first hair relaxer.
He was working in a sewing machine repair shop around 1910. Garret was trying to invent a new lubricating liquid for the machine needle.
The story goes that he wiped his hands on a wool cloth. He came back the next day and the woolly textured of the cloth had smoothed out.
He was perplexed and wanted to find out how the liquid chemical straightened the wool.
Garret experimented with an Airedale dog; known for its curly-texture.

Airedale Dog
The same result.
Then Garret tried the concoction on his own hair. He called it,
hair refining cream.
He patented the first chemical hair straightener.
This was the jump start to his own personal grooming
products company which included, hair dying ointments,
curved-tooth pressing combs, shampoo, and a hair cream
advertised as:
Positively Straighten Hair in 15 Minutes.

...and the brainwashing has continued into the next millennium.
How do I get my hair from straight to wavy or curly without a perm?

Now I don't believe because an young
African American women has extensions or weave it makes her less aware of her culture! So what Kerry Washington has extensions, she has done so much as an actress! She has played some really amazing roles in movies and has not been put in certain roles that both black women and men often are put in. Now I have had natural hair for a couple years and I have had extensions or weave whatever! Im African American and I am proud to be it! It does not matter what is on top of your head but what is in it! A person could have dreadlocks down they back and still know nothing of how dreadlocks came to be or African culture. Now if people continue to try to measure how black they are because of their hairstyle your only furthering the separation we are as a people. We already have many other stereotypes that we need to try and get rid of do you really think worrying about hair weaves, or dreadlocks is all that important?

Amen, amen I totally agree; I just wish people would think before they give an opinion; does it really make sense to imply that a hairstyle makes someone more concious of their identity and comfortable with who they are. Yes people often make statements with their hair and clothes but sometimes the statement is purely "I like this style" in another 6 months they may grow it out and have another. It is about the spirit and mind of a person, by judging others purely on their hairstyle rather than the content of their character surely we are employing prejudice and are no different to our former oppressors. Why can't we celebrate each other our heritage and culture and walk together.

I'm not an expert, however, it is my understanding that hair dye is damaging to the hair & the body as well. It is also my understanding that henna would be the best type of hair dye because it is all natural. - KH

You can view below risks using hair dye...
"over 50 million women in the US dye their hair regularly. Many more say they will once they start to turn gray, and many girls use hair dyes from an early age. However, there are risks associated with using these products. One of the main chemicals in most hair dyes has been banned in several European countries, and hair dye chemicals have been shown to have a variety of harmful effects in scientific experiments. Use of hair dye has been linked to allergic reactions, respiratory disorders and even cancer."

Traditional automobile insurance policies are almost always a poor choice for owners of antique cars. There are several underwriters that provide Classic Car Insurance policies that offer more protection for less money.

i have curly frizzy hair im a boy how can i make it straight without a relaxer or straightener?
Reply to this
hi
It may be a dumb question, it takes so long to straighten the thick curly hairstyle with some frizz control and a flat iron
. I was wondering if we can get a relaxer for this kind of hair
?
First, there are several different ways to straighten hair. The relaxers have 'Lye' and they are mostly too strong for the hair although they can be used if applied by a skilled stylist. Most straightening products are basically 'perms' or permanent waves which are combed into the hair and they will straighten the hair. It's depending on the course of different hair.
Thio (Thioglycolate) relaxer. It is actually a texturizer and it is designed for curly or wavy hair. There are several good products out there: Rusk Radical Anti-curl, Redken Vertical, L'oreal X-tenso, Matrix Opti-smooth. They are all professional treatments. Do some reseach to find out if there are any reputable salons in your area that offer the service.
Stay away from Lye (sodium hydroxide) relaxers, or calcium hydroxide relaxes. They are not really designed for this kind of hair type and won't produce the results which you are looking for.
Thio, will produce soft shiny hair, that will be much easier to straighten, but you will still be able to wear your hair curly or wavy if you want to. The waves or curls will just be looser, smoother and shinier.

When it comes to vehicles, classic cars are absolutely at the top of the pyramid, with their amazing features setting them far apart from the rest of the crowd. Unfortunately, as is typical for anything that attracts attention, classic cars tend to attract a decent share of thieves and vandals. So, I discuss how to get cheap antique and classic car insurance to protect your pride and joy!
